Vision & Values
We exist to reach people with the gospel, grow them up together in Christ,
and send them out to love our city and our world.
Gospel: Message and Motivation
The gospel is God’s power for salvation and is the most important news to ever be told. It is the story of how God has been working to make things right since the moment man broke relationship with him. God’s promise from the beginning is that he would send a Deliverer (Gen. 3:15) to redeem us from our sin and brokenness. His name is Jesus.
We believe the gospel comes down to two things: a debt and a provision. We have a debt that we could not pay, but Jesus paid it all for us through his death on a cross and his resurrection from the grave. We also have a provision in his perfect life that he exchanges for our fallen one. The gospel, therefore, is our message and our motivation for everything we say and do. (2 Cor. 5:21, Rom. 6:23, Rom 1:16)
Community: Discipleship and Display
Every person is made with a built-in longing for belonging. God doesn’t just intend to call people out of something: their sin, their struggles, or their mess. He also calls us into something: community, with himself and one another. We believe Christian community is a window for the world to see Jesus (John 17:11), which is why we value environments that grow existing disciples of Jesus and offer a pathway for those who are interested, but don’t yet believe (1 Corinthians 14.24-25). God pursues us through other people before we believe and continues pursuing us after we are saved. That is why we believe discipleship happens in relationships.
We intentionally gather as a community in two ways: through smaller community groups during the week and together for corporate worship on the weekend. (Acts 2:42-47, Hebrews 3:12-13, 1 Corinthians 12:12-31)
Mission: Multiplication and Movement
Since the gospel is good news, it needs to be told. Every person that God saves, he also sends. Jesus told his disciples to go and make disciples of every nation and, after sending his Spirit to give them power, he launched a movement called the Church. We believe that the church is God’s plan for reaching the world.
We are committed to equipping disciples to reach others here in Asheville, training them to serve God’s mission in the world, and sending them out to join new churches and movements from Western NC to the ends of the earth. In other words, multiplication is our method for global mission. (Acts 17:26, 2 Cor. 5:11-12, Mat. 28:18-20)
